Streamlined lending: Enhancing operations for loan providers

Wyatt Hansen, Vice President of Information Technology Services at LeaderOne Financial, oversees the company’s IT strategy. LeaderOne Financial Corporation, a Kansas City-based mortgage lender, manages over US$1 billion in conventional and government loans. To stay competitive, the company turned to NinjaOne, a modern endpoint management solution, after facing challenges with its previous tool.

LeaderOne’s former endpoint management tool became an obstacle to growth, proving stagnant and outdated. It failed to support the company’s commitment to efficiency and innovation, hindering the IT team’s ability to serve end users effectively. LeaderOne’s dedication to innovation has earned multiple recognitions in Mortgage Executive Magazine and Scotsman Guide as a Top Mortgage Lending Company. Recognising the need for change, Wyatt Hansen sought a solution to streamline operations and keep LeaderOne ahead in the fast-paced mortgage lending industry.

CHALLENGE

Stagnant and inefficient software

Staying ahead of the technological curve is crucial in today’s fast-paced, highly competitive lending space. LeaderOne’s former endpoint management tool became an obstacle to the company’s growth because it proved stagnant and outdated, unable to support the efficiency and innovation that LeaderOne is known for.

Hansen knew that to support the company’s end users, the IT team needed to address several pressing issues with their current technology setup.

Quick statistics

  • NinjaOne’s all-in-one platform saves 30% on software costs
  • NinjaOne automations reduces the time each IT analyst spends on daily tasks by 15%
  • NinjaOne reduces ticket remediation time by 50%

The first, password management. The existing process underscored its outdated and inefficient nature. “If a local administrator’s password expired, we were locked out of that device,” said Hansen. “Remediating the issue meant shipping the locked device back to headquarters and waiting for a new device.”

Remediating locked devices could sometimes take hours in manual labour and US$300 per device in shipping, as well as delays in critical work, resulting in inconvenienced customers.

Second, automation capabilities were lacking. “We need the capability to create and run custom batch scripts for various device groups,” said Hansen. “Scripting was unreliable and confusing.” Rudimentary scripting with frequent patch failures was an administrative headache for the LeaderOne IT team.

Lastly, the old system’s third-party integrations were limited. “We built a ‘franken-system’ of various software because [the previous provider] couldn’t integrate with other essential tools,” said Hansen. “Our tech stack was inefficient, bloated and expensive.”

LeaderOne switched to a new endpoint management solution, which proved to be a game-changer.

SOLUTION

Reduced software costs plus enhanced capabilities

After a silent, six-week migration, Hansen reported that NinjaOne’s functionality surpassed all other endpoint management solutions he’s worked with. “NinjaOne removed all administrative burdens with password and patch management while having the most robust scripting library I’ve seen,” said Hansen.

Not only that but with NinjaOne’s unified platform, LeaderOne eliminated three legacy tools with NinjaOne, reducing software costs by 30%. “We consolidated our antivirus, backup and remote tool into NinjaOne, which enhanced our overall IT capabilities,” said Hansen. NinjaOne’s remote screen sharing, patch reporting, reliable scripting, effective backup solution and device logs made a positive, immediate impact on overall IT efficiency.

Hansen noted that NinjaOne has powerful features that are simple and easy to use. “Switching to NinjaOne made automating IT tasks simple, freeing up 15% of each of our IT analysts’ day,” said Hansen. “They’re able to focus on business growth and development instead of administrative tasks.”

In addition, NinjaOne’s automation and simplicity support LeaderOne in a sometimes-unpredictable industry. “In the mortgage lending industry, moving from hypergrowth to scaling back business is expected,” said Hansen. “Not only did NinjaOne make it possible to support our business with 50% less IT staff, but it also gave us the flexibility to manage our subscription every month. The flexibility allows us to add or remove devices as needed. Compared to being locked into a yearly contract, NinjaOne’s approach has resulted in significant cost savings.”

NinjaOne delivers peace of mind

In every job, human error is possible. Hansen recalled one instance where device connection to printers was inadvertently disabled across devices. “Within seconds, I logged into the NinjaOne dashboard, looked at the device information, located the issue and resolved it,” said Hansen. “With our previous solution, something so simple would’ve taken an entire day to troubleshoot and weeks to remediate. With NinjaOne, there’s peace of mind that our devices are secure, and if an error is made, it’s simple to identify and easy to fix.”

On top of that, the LeaderOne team can rest easy knowing company servers are backed up and secure. “In the past, we’ve used legacy tools like Datto for backup, but NinjaOne is much easier to use and more effective overall,” said Hansen.

A solution end-users love

Not only do the technicians at LeaderOne love working in NinjaOne, but Hansen reported that end users noticed an improvement in overall IT efficiency. “With NinjaOne, we spend 50% less time finding and remediating end user issues than with our previous tool,” said Hansen. “We can easily remote into a device and see all device information. End users aren’t inconvenienced with lengthy troubleshooting or trying to find device information independently.”

Overall, IT processes and efficiency increased thanks to the partnership with NinjaOne.

Hansen also described many aspects of NinjaOne’s ROI as unmeasurable. “NinjaOne’s culture and customer support is similar to our culture here at LeaderOne,” said Hansen. “They deliver quick and knowledgeable support to their customers and are always looking to innovate and grow.”

“NinjaOne is the best endpoint management tool on the market,” said Hansen. “More than that, we’re innovating and growing alongside NinjaOne. They care about their customers and create products and features that fit our needs.”
